Equation Pad

Terms of use

Last updated: 7 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the Equation Pad website and app at equationpad.com (the "Service"), run by Equation Pad ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you use it for an organisation, you agree on behalf of that organisation.

1. The Service

Equation Pad is a calculation worksheet that runs in your web browser. We may improve, change or remove features over time. We will try to give notice of changes that significantly reduce what a paid plan includes.

2. Plans and payment

  • The Free plan is provided without charge and with the limits shown on the pricing page.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider, and renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time; your plan continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Unless the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable for part periods.
  • If we change prices, we will tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you may cancel before the new price applies.
  • The early-bird discount applies as described in the offer sent to people on the waitlist.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

3. Using the app

We give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own personal or business work, in line with your plan. You must not:

  • copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, or run copies of it anywhere other than equationpad.com;
  • get around plan limits, watermarks or other technical restrictions;
  • share a single-user plan between several people;
  • use the Service unlawfully, or in a way that could harm the Service or other people.

4. Your work

Your worksheets and their content belong to you. We do not receive, see or store them (see our privacy policy). Because your work is kept on your own devices or in your own cloud storage, you are responsible for keeping backups. We cannot recover lost files.

5. Engineering results and professional responsibility

Equation Pad is a calculation tool, not a source of engineering, scientific or professional advice. You are responsible for your inputs, for the methods you choose, and for checking every result before relying on it. Please read the disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

6. Other services

Some features connect you directly with services run by others, such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Formspree and our payment provider. Their own terms apply to those services and we are not responsible for them.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available and working well, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". It may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control, and we do not promise that it will be free of errors.

8. Limits on our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Subject to that:

  • we are not liable for any loss arising from the use of, or reliance on, results produced with the Service, including the design, construction, manufacture or operation of anything;
  • we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
  • our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in that period, or £100 if greater.

9. Our name and software

The Equation Pad name, logo, website and app belong to us or our licensors. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the app under Help ▸ About.

10. Suspension and ending

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we stop offering the Service altogether, we will give paid users reasonable notice and refund any unused, prepaid period.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will show the date of the latest version at the top and, for important changes affecting paid plans, tell you in advance. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
