An online matrix calculator that shows its working
Write matrices row by row, combine them in equations and see every step typeset: inverse, determinant, transpose, eigenvalues, solving linear systems and joining matrices into blocks.

Write matrices the natural way
A := [4, -2; 1, 1] makes a 2 × 2 matrix: commas separate columns and semicolons separate rows. b := [2; 3] is a column vector. Then x := lusolve(A, b) = solves A·x = b and shows the result as a typeset matrix.
The operations you need
- Inverse
inv(A), determinantdet(A), transposetranspose(A), trace, rank-style checks. - Eigenvalues and eigenvectors
eigs(A), norms, QR and LU factorisation. - Block matrices:
[A, b]joins side by side and[A; B]stacks. - Element access and ranges such as
K[1:6, 1:6]. - Matrices with units, for stiffness and flexibility methods.
Use a spreadsheet as a matrix
A spreadsheet on the same sheet can be used as a matrix by its name, or a range of its cells such as Data!B2:D4. Import the values from a .xlsx or .csv file.
Keep the result
Unlike a one-off calculator, the matrices stay on a calculation sheet you can save, print as PDF or export as a .docx document, with a title block and your own notes.
