Equation Pad

Disclaimer

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Equation Pad is a calculation tool. It does not check whether a design is safe, suitable or compliant. Every result must be checked by a suitably qualified and competent person before it is relied on.

A tool, not advice

Equation Pad helps you write and evaluate your own calculations. It does not provide engineering, scientific, financial or any other professional advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship with us. Decisions based on your calculations are yours.

You are responsible for your calculations

When you use Equation Pad you are responsible for:

  • the correctness and completeness of your inputs, assumptions, formulas and units;
  • choosing methods, safety factors and standards that are appropriate for your work;
  • compliance with any laws, design codes, standards and client requirements that apply;
  • independently checking results, for example by hand calculation, another method or review by a competent person, especially where safety, health, property or significant money is involved.

Limits of the software

  • Numerical methods are approximate. Integrals, derivatives, roots, equation solving and differential equations are calculated numerically and may be inaccurate, may find only one of several solutions, or may fail, for example with discontinuous or badly scaled functions.
  • Displayed values are rounded to the number format you choose. Rounded values shown on a sheet may differ slightly from the values used in later calculations.
  • Unit handling depends on what you write. A name can mean a unit or a variable; a wrong or ambiguous unit can give a wrong answer without an error message.
  • No design codes are built in. Equation Pad does not apply or check any design code or standard.
  • Examples are illustrations only. Example sheets, the user guide and the help assistant show how features work; they are not verified design methods.
  • The app uses third-party open-source libraries for calculation and display. Like all software, they may contain errors.

No warranty

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is", without any warranty that it is accurate, complete, error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.

No liability for use of results

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Equation Pad accepts no liability for any loss, damage, cost, claim, injury or delay arising from the use of, or reliance on, Equation Pad or any result, sheet, drawing or file produced with it. This includes, without limitation, design errors, failures of structures, machines or systems, and the consequences of incorrect inputs or misread outputs.

Nothing in this disclaimer limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

Your files

Your worksheets are stored on your own devices or in your own cloud storage, not by us. We cannot recover lost or damaged files, so please keep backups.
