Equation Pad is a calculation tool for engineers and technical professionals. Write equations the way you write them on paper, with real units, and get checked results on calculation sheets that are ready to issue. It runs in your web browser, with nothing to install. Use it for:

  • Structural calculations — loads, member checks and design to your code, set out like a hand calculation
  • Numerical problem solutions — equations, roots, systems, integrals, derivatives and differential equations
  • Matrix operations — inverse, determinant, transpose, block matrices and linear systems
  • Spreadsheets and sketches — a spreadsheet and a drawing board built into the calculator, on the same sheet
  • Graphs, unit conversion and reports — and any other calculation that has to be shown, checked and signed

The Equation Pad window filling up line by line: a calculation sheet with a title block, typeset equations with units, and the list of variables on the right.

Open it and start calculating

Equation Pad runs in your web browser on Windows, Mac, Linux or a Chromebook. There is nothing to download, no licence server and no IT request. Your colleagues open the same tool the moment you send them a link.

Why it matters: the first calculation takes seconds, not an afternoon of installing.

Animation: maths lines typed and typeset in turn: a speed of 25 km/h converted to m/s, g, a load of 3 kN/m² and the force on an area.

Write maths the way you write it on paper

Type v := d/t = km/h and see a typeset equation with the answer in the units you asked for. Units are checked and converted for you, every result updates the moment an input changes, and solving, calculus, matrices and graphs are built in.

Why it matters: a checker reads your working like a hand calculation, not like hidden cell formulas.

Animation: a cubic function, its root between −1 and 0, the solution of cos x = x, a system of two equations and an exact derivative, typed one after the other.
Animation: a cubic function and its graph with a level line, then the read-out of the values following the mouse.

Maths, spreadsheets and drawings on one sheet

Put a spreadsheet next to your equations and use its cells in the maths: it opens in a full spreadsheet editor with tabs, fill handle and more than a hundred functions, and graphs come in eight types. Draw a detail in the built-in 2D and 3D drawing editor, with dimensions, snaps and layers, or sketch it free-hand on the drawing board with pencil, brush and shapes. Add text, pictures and program blocks where you need them.

Why it matters: one file holds the whole calculation, so nothing is copied between programs and nothing goes out of date.

Animation: the drawing editor building a dimensioned plate with a hole, with dockable toolbars and properties on the right.
Animation: formulas typed into a spreadsheet on the sheet, then a maths line that totals it and a check against the budget.

Calculation sheets that are ready to issue

Every sheet carries a title block with your company logo, project details and sign-off boxes, on squared paper with a footer you design. Make a PDF at true paper size in one click, or share it by email or WhatsApp.

Why it matters: what you see while you work is exactly what your client receives.

Your calculations stay yours

Equation Pad does its work inside your browser. Your worksheets are saved as files on your own computer, or in your own Google Drive or OneDrive if you choose. They never pass through our servers.

Why it matters: client data and project details stay confidential without a security review.

We never see or store your calculations. Not on a server, not in a database, not for training anything.
  • All maths runs on your own device
  • Files save to your computer, or to your own cloud account
  • No tracking or advertising cookies

Priced for one engineer, not a department

Questions

What is Equation Pad?

Equation Pad is calculation software for engineers and technical professionals. You write equations the way you would on paper, with real units, and it typesets them, calculates the results and lays everything out on calculation sheets with a title block, ready to print, save as PDF or issue.

What can I use it for?

Structural and other engineering calculations, numerical problem solving (equations, roots, systems, integrals, derivatives and differential equations), matrix operations, unit conversion, graphs, and calculation documents that combine maths, a spreadsheet, drawings and sketches on the same sheet.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Equation Pad runs in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on Windows, Mac, Linux or a Chromebook.

Are my calculations private?

Yes. All the maths runs in your own browser. Worksheets are saved as files on your computer, or in your own Google Drive or OneDrive. We never see or store your calculations.

Does it handle units?

Yes. Every value can carry a unit, such as 120 km, 9.81 m/s² or 5 kN/m². Units are checked, cancelled and converted for you, and a result can be shown in any compatible unit.

Can I export my work?

Yes: PDF at true paper size, .docx documents, web pages, and spreadsheets as .xlsx workbooks or .csv files.

How much does it cost?

You can start free. Lite costs £8 a month and Pro £15 a month, with two months free on a yearly plan. People on the waitlist get 20% off at launch.
